Emergency Preparedness

Your family may not be together when disaster strikes, so it is important to plan in advance, how you will contact each other, how you will get back together and what you will do in different situations.

Often after a disaster it is easier to make a long-distance call than a call across town.  Its wise to have an out-of-town contact to communicate among separated family members.  Be sure everyone in your family knows the phone number, and has coins or a prepaid phone card to call the emergency contact.  You may have trouble getting through, or the telephone system may be down altogether, but be patient.  (Taken from “Make a Plan” at bereadyutah.gov)

If you would like a form to record important contact information, please call your Area Emergency Preparation Specialist or Kathryn Hadfield at 753-2745.

Another CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team) class will be offered again this fall.  We would encourage River Heights residents to take the course.  CERT training is a great way to be prepared to help yourself and others in an emergency.  Call Kathryn Hadfield if interested—753-2745.
